"Why are you cheering this?" - Legend unhappy with crowd reaction to Jon Moxley and his AEW faction
Wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer didn't like the crowd cheering for Jon Moxley on Dynamite. This week's show was broadcast live on TBS from Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT.
The November 13 edition of Dynamite saw Jon Moxley trying to take over the TBS SuperStation. However, his efforts were rendered useless by Orange Cassidy and The Conglomeration. The babyfaces interrupted his promo, causing Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, and Wheeler Yuta to retreat only to get stopped by Darby Allin. The two parties ultimately engaged in a brawl.
On the Busted Open After Dark podcast, Tommy Dreamer expressed dissatisfaction with the Bridgeport crowd cheering for Jon Moxley during his promo on Dynamite. He said the audience was supposed to boo him because he was a heel.
"If I could go back to the Moxley promo. This promo was a generic bad-guy promo. All the stuff he's going to do to Orange Cassidy who's the beloved babyface. I'm gonna beat you up. You're mom's not gonna recognize you. I'm gonna hurt you. I'm gonna do all this stuff. And then his promo ends and they cheer. I'm like, 'Wait, what?'"
Dreamer praised Cassidy's role in the segment:
"Then here comes Orange Cassidy's music. They cheer for that. We have this nice little back-and-forth. I like Orange Cassidy‘s explanation and the fans are reacting. We get out of that segment where the bad guys are leaving and then it pops back up. That segment I did enjoy and I’m glad for it, but the fans cheering for Jon Moxley's promo on how he’s gonna destroy the guy who’s gonna be the savior for AEW. I’m seriously like, 'Why are you cheering this?' And when I say generic I just mean it’s bad guy 101 to get you to boo him. You hang on to his words, which is cool, but then you cheer."
Roman Reigns mentioned during Jon Moxley's segment on Dynamite
Before Jon Moxley and The Death Riders were ambushed by Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe and Rocky Romero, the AEW World Champion delivered a solid promo. Moxley claimed he would make an example out of Freshly Squeezed.
A fan seemingly insulted The Purveyor of Violence by shouting, "Go back to Roman" during the promo. However, the World Champion didn't respond to the spectator.
Moxley and Reigns were stablemates in The Shield alongside Seth Rollins in WWE. The group originally disbanded in 2014 after The Visionary betrayed his brothers to join hands with The Authority.
