"Why is he doing this?" - Wrestling legend is baffled by Chris Jericho's AEW decision
A wrestling veteran reflected on the recent character change of the former WWE and AEW World Champion, Chris Jericho. Jim Cornette is baffled by Jericho's current creative direction.
After surprisingly capturing the FTW Title from HOOK at the recent AEW Dynasty Pay-Per-View, Chris Jericho introduced a new 'The Learning Tree' character. He later added Big Bill as well as Bryan Keith into his new faction. Furthermore, Jericho has been hosting a new segment every week named 'TV Time with The Learning Tree.'
Meanwhile, wrestling veteran Jim Cornette seems confused by Jericho's new character. Speaking on his recent Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette expressed his displeasure towards Jericho's current gimmick in AEW:
"What is Jericho doing now? It's not hard to come up with this viewpoint that he's been on television for thirty years, we know what he talks like, and what he acts like. It's not a matter of changing a gimmick or a nickname or a catchphrase or the way you're dressing or switching from babyface to heel. He is just a... why is he doing this? Why is he screaming?"
Cornette further asked who wants to see Jericho's new character:
"It's like old 90s cable access with guys with a camcorder that weren't even doing necessarily a wrestling show but just a show where they thought they were doing funny improv of some description. [...] Who is this for? Who wants to see this?" [From 00:23 to 01:30]

Jim Cornette believes AEW star couldn't say no to Chris Jericho
As mentioned earlier, AEW star Big Bill also joined 'The Learning Tree' of Chris Jericho and has been along for the ride. Jim Cornette assumed that Big Bill didn't say no to Jericho despite knowing that it's not a good idea.
"I think he knows it's not a good idea, I think he just knew not to say no to it." [From 05:02 to 05:07]
Meanwhile, Jericho continues to portray his new character, despite the mixed reactions online. Only time will tell what's next for The Ocho in AEW.
