Will Ospreay addresses major allegations against him
Will Ospreay is one of the best professional wrestlers in the world. However, there were some major claims about him which he recently addressed.
Will Ospreay's signing with AEW turned a lot of heads. Given his reputation, there were a lot of expectations from him and he has managed to live up to them. Ospreay didn't waste time in establishing himself as a major star in the company and has already put on several stellar matches.
However, recently there have been fans claiming that the current AEW International Champion doesn't sell during his matches. During a recent interview on the Masked Man Show, Ospreay addressed these claims saying that people need to understand his backstory before they make such allegations against him:
“I just feel there are different aspects in what people say with selling. If you understand and look at the backstory that I go through, who were the guys that I was training alongside? (Kazuchika) Okada, (Tomohiro) Ishii. You don’t think at any point in those training sessions and Japanese camps where you’d land on your f**king head and they’d be like, ‘Get up and just swing.’ If you don’t have that small burst of energy before you’re about to do something, they’re going to get the upper hand and win."
Ospreay continued to say that the fans don't understand how he got to where he is today. He finished his statement by comparing himself to Picasso:
“I say to all those people who say ‘you don’t know how to sell,’ you don’t know the backstory. You don’t know how I f**king got here. You’ve never been in a situation where you’ve been in a moment where if you don’t put your f**king foot on the gas pedal, you die. To those people, I get where they’re coming from, I understand, but if you pause your opinion for a second and take a wide look at the arena, they’re standing up. You can’t tell Picasso how to paint.” [H/T Jeremy Lamber of Fightful]
Will Ospreay will defend his title at AEW WrestleDream
Will Ospreay has been on a roll ever since he won the AEW International Championship at All In 2024. However, he has a lot of challengers gunning for his title.
Ricochet has had his eyes set on Will Ospreay ever since he arrived in AEW. These two men even got to compete for the title on the fifth anniversary of AEW Dynamite. However, this match ended in a no contest after Konosuke Takeshita interrupted them.
Hence, a match was announced for AEW WrestleDream where Ospreay will defend his title against both Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way match.
It will be interesting to see if Will Ospreay will be able to retain his International Title at WrestleDream.
