Will Ospreay makes shocking return, attacks champion outside AEW

Will Ospreay is set for the biggest match of his AEW tenure when he faces MJF for the American Championship at All In later this month. However, his opponent isn't making the journey to Wembley Stadium easy. The Aerial Assassin was forced to return to his stomping grounds in RevPro today to save his friends from Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Although he's rechristened it the American Championship, MJF has fulfilled the original vision of AEW's International title by defending it around the world. He defeated Templario in Arena Mexico earlier this month before heading back home to vanquish Ospreay's best friend, Kyle Fletcher.

Today, MJF set out to make a statement by defending the American Championship against RevPro's Michael Oku. The young star was Will Ospreay's final opponent in the British promotion before he began his full-time run with All Elite Wrestling.

Maxwell and Oku wrestled for almost 30 minutes before the champion finally put his opponent away. After the match, MJF attacked Amira and was about to hit the dreaded Tiger Driver '91 when The Aerial Assassin showed up to make the save.

MJF is systematically destroying Will Ospreay's allies ahead of AEW All In 2024

To the surprise of many, Maxwell Jacob Friedman has been a fighting champion since he won the American Championship. However, The Wolf of Wrestling's aim is seemingly utter domination, especially when it comes to Will Ospreay's friends and allies.

Last week on AEW Dynamite, MJF made an example out of Kyle Fletcher, beating him bloody after their match and threatening to hit the Tiger Driver '91 before Ospreay made the save. Now, he's done the same to The Aerial Assassin's friends in RevPro.

Recent reports have indicated that this has all been in the works for some time, and it's leading to a cathartic win for Will Ospreay at All In 2024. It's assumed that the British star will revert the American Championship to the International title if he manages to win it back at Wembley Stadium.

MJF has been goading Ospreay at every opportunity thus far. Whether The Aerial Assassin can overcome his greatest challenge yet remains to be seen.
