Wrestling veteran claims Tony Khan was scared current AEW champions would join WWE after contract expiry - "They would have been exposed"

Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette recently shared his thoughts on AEW EVPs Nicholas and Matthew Jackson's (The Young Bucks) contract situation in All Elite Wrestling. The Young Bucks are the current AEW World Tag Team Champions.

Nicholas and Matthew Jackon's new contract allows them to skip multiple dates in AEW which also explains there recent absence from television after Blood & Guts. However, WWE veteran Jim Cornette has an interesting claim about the duo's contract with the company and what would've happened if Tony Khan let them go.

On the new episode of his The Experience podcast, Jim Cornette spoke about how The Young Bucks were handed everything in All Elite Wrestling because Tony Khan was scared to let them jump ship to WWE.

"Guess what? If you’re an Executive Vice President or any kind of wrestling booker or promoter in a real company, you don’t get days off. Forget that; when everybody else is off, you’re on. As Ole Anderson used to say, wrestlers show up and wrestle if booked, and if not, they’re off. I think some people might think differently, but with these two who have everything handed to them, Tony Khan was scared they’d go to WWE. He should have let them because it would have removed a drag on his ratings and all those crummy TV segments."

He claimed that The Young Bucks would have been exposed if they signed with the Stamford-based promotion.

"They would have been exposed for what they are: a couple of cosplaying kids who didn’t realize how out of their depth they were until they got there. Now they’re getting paid and don’t have to work, but that just means that nobody is calling for them to work less. Only the guy paying them millions of dollars is aware of them.” H/T:[RingsideNews]

WWE veteran Jim Cornette further slammed the AEW EVPs

The Young Bucks are two of the most controversial stars in professional wrestling. However, that did not stop them from becoming renowned all over the world. In the same episode, Jim Cornette slammed the duo and claimed that their matches are repetitive and the AEW shows hurt from their presence.

“The Young Bucks have never meant less. Their presence on the show is one of the things that hurts it. The wrestling public at large is not accepting of them because their matches are repetitive and their characters don’t feel genuine.” H/T:[RingsideNews]

The Young Bucks, alongside Jack Perry and Kazuchika Okada, have been dominating All Elite Wrestling for the past few months. It will be interesting to see which stars bring an end to The Elite once and for all.
