Wrestling veteran defends AEW for "hot shotting" one of its last big matches for a ratings boost
A wrestling veteran recently came to the aid of AEW after a user on social media accused the Jacksonville-based promotion of "hot shotting" big matches for a ratings boost. That would be Disco Inferno.
This past week on AEW Dynamite, fans witnessed a pretty stacked show on the occasion of its 250th episode. Tony Khan booked some pay-per-view level matches on free TV, as MJF and Will Ospreay kicked off the show with a nearly 60-minute classic encounter. Moreover, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland competed against Kazuchika Okada in the main event.
Apart from two of the biggest opening and main event matches, Mercedes Mone, formerly known as Sasha Banks, defended her TBS Championship against Nyla Rose. As a result of producing a stacked show, AEW Dynamite recorded a huge boost in the ratings. As per Wrestlenomics, the flagship show clocked 795,000 viewers on average for this week which is a big spike from last week.
Meanwhile, an X/Twitter user claimed that Tony Khan and the Jacksonville-based company hot-shotted one of the few big marquee matches they have left just to pop a big number in ratings. Nonetheless, wrestling veteran Disco Inferno, who has mostly been critical of AEW, surprisingly came to its defense with the following reaction to the user:
"Hot shotting is not crazy. The show is more interesting and the ratings are better."

AEW fans would definitely love to see some more star-stacked matches on regular shows.
Disco Inferno made a bold statement regarding AEW's booking
Disco Inferno took to social media to point out that Tony Khan's promotion made a mistake by booking Will Ospreay vs. MJF for only an hour and not two, as the quarter-hour ratings during the match were very good. The 56-year-old veteran wrote the following in his X/Twitter post:
"Looking at the quarter hours, AEW made a huge mistake having Ospreay and MJF wrestle a one hour match. They should have had a TWO HOUR match. #AEWDynamite"
Meanwhile, nearly an hour-long epic encounter between MJF and Ospreay continues to be a topic of discussion among the wrestling community. Only time will tell what is next for both the top stars.
