WWE and ECW legend unhappy with Finn Balor’s booking; says they’re making him a “stuntman”

An ECW veteran made a bold claim that Finn Balor was being underutilized by WWE. However, he mentioned that he couldn't blame him due to the great compensation he was getting. This would be Sabu.

The Suicidal, Homicidal, Genocidal, Death-defying Maniac was known to be one of the more hardcore stars of the 90s and 2000s, as he was known for his time with ECW, winning several titles on the promotion. Sabu has also gotten to compete worldwide but eventually retired in 2021. Last year, he emerged as Adam Cole's backup in AEW during his feud against Chris Jericho.

During his recent appearance on Conversations with the Classic, Sabu talked about the former Universal Champion Finn Balor, whom he was very interested in. The veteran claimed that WWE Superstars nowadays are more actors and stuntmen than wrestlers. But due to the benefits he was receiving, he understood why Balor might be okay with this type of role.

“WWE guys are actors and stuntmen. They’re not wrestlers anymore. They’re making him, a wrestler, be an actor, and a stuntman. I don’t blame him. He’s getting paid.” [H/T EWrestlingNews]

Sabu says he would have wanted to share the ring with Finn Balor

During the same interview, Sabu talked about how he first discovered watching The Demon King in some of his matches in Europe. He talked about how he wanted to wrestle him until he joined WWE.

In the end, this match never happened as the veteran suffered from injuries which forced him to retire.

"I like Finn Balor. I've seen him wrestle in Ireland, no... Scotland a couple of times, not too long before he became Finn Balor. I always wanted to wrestle him, then he became Finn Balor. I really love(d) (him). So I said, 'Hey, man someday, (let's) get together.' He said, 'Of course.' But then it never happened because I got hurt," Sabu said.

At this point, this match may not be a reality in the near future, as Sabu would need to completely heal from his injuries. However, several stars have had miracle returns to the ring, so if things go right, it could still be a possibility.
