WWE Hall of Famer heaps praise on Will Ospreay: “Athletically, he has no peers in the industry right now” (Exclusive)
A certain WWE Hall of Famer recently talked about Will Ospreay, comparing him to Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels and claiming that no one is currently on his level athletically. The Hall of Famer in question is Jeff Jarrett.
After officially joining AEW in February this year, the Aerial Assassin has emerged as one of the must-see talents the promotion has to offer. He has won all 11 of his one-on-one bouts this year and has even captured the International Championship.
During his appearance on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Apter Chat with Bill Apter, Jeff Jarrett claimed that Will Ospreay had no one who was at his level athletically in the industry right now. The WWE Hall of Famer likened the AEW star to Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels.
"Athletically he has no peers in the industry right now. As generational talents roll through, you know when Kurt Angle came onto the scene, his athletic ability took him a notch above everybody else. Shawn Michaels during his, you know...the athletic ability it just takes you up a notch or two. Will [Ospreay] right now doesn't have a peer in my opinion athletically. He's got an incredible amount of charisma, he's got international experience almost on another level." [3:27-4:09]
He felt, however, that heading into his match at Forbidden Door against Swerve Strickland for the AEW World title, there was more pressure on Ospreay.
"Will stepping on this stage week in and week out, that's kind of the proving ground and so far he's on a roll. We're gonna find out at the Forbidden Door. I think it's more of a measuring stick for Will – and that comes with a lot of weight – than it is for Swerve." [4:35-4:57]

Kevin Nash recently named a flaw Will Ospreay had
Last week, WWE legend Kevin Nash talked about something he noticed regarding Will Ospreay, and that was that he had a tendency to throw bad punches at times.
On his Kliq This podcast, Nash revealed that while looking back at the Aerial Assassin's matches, he noticed how there were times when he would throw bad punches in high-speed moments during the match.
“I noticed while watching that match, because I had rewound it to see how long they were in commercial break, that it was only three minutes but felt like three hours. I remember writing TV commercials and having to do those 2:45 breaks, which is a long commercial break. When I watched the match, especially on replay, I noticed that [Will] Ospreay, as much as [Dave] Meltzer praises him, has a tendency to throw bad, rushed punches to maintain speed. Everything is about that speed, pace, and rhythm,” he said.
Later on, he would go on to mention that Will Ospreay should study how Shawn Michaels would throw punches, as he threw them much slower, but it would not affect how things looked and became more believable.
Seeing as no one has been able to get the best of him one-on-one, it remains to be seen who ends up slowing Will Ospreay down.
