WWE Hall of Famer reacts to AEW star Britt Baker's heartbreaking update on her health
After months of absence from AEW programming, Britt Baker finally made her much-awaited comeback at the 2024 Forbidden Door pay-per-view. She intends to face Mercedes Moné at All In next month. Baker recently provided an update on her health, and Booker T responded to it on his podcast.
The 33-year-old recently revealed that the reason for her in-ring hiatus was a torn hip labrum and two herniated disks. Furthermore, she suffered from a transient ischemic attack, which extended her recovery time. A TIA (transient ischemic attack) is similar to a mini-stroke. Although it may not be severe, it still requires medical attention.
WWE Superstar Booker T spoke candidly about Baker's situation on a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast. The legend said he was a fan of the former AEW Women's World Champion and was glad she was out of danger. Booker further revealed that he had hung out with Baker and called her a "cool chick."
"I just heard about it. But yeah, for her to have been off that long and to have to deal with something like that, that had to be pretty serious. Had to be pretty serious for someone like Britt Baker. She’s pretty young to have gone through something like that. So me personally, I’m a big fan of Britt Baker. I’ve had a chance to hang out [with her], and smoke cigars. You know, she’s such a cool chick, man. And so I’m glad to see her back. Seriously, glad to see her back," Booker T said.
Britt Baker revealed she suffered a TIA on the latest episode of Dynamite
On last week's episode of Dynamite, Baker revealed the reasons why she had been absent from AEW programming for so long. The 33-year-old recalled that she tried to open a bottle of water last year but couldn't do it because the right side of her body stopped functioning.
"To sum this story up, I spent a week in the hospital with a diagnosis of a TIA, which is a transient ischemic attack. And the doctors explained that to me as an instance when your brain is not getting enough blood for that moment, and it is a major warning sign for a stroke, so much so that they call it a mini-stroke," Baker said.
Britt Baker has been signed to AEW since 2019. In the past, she has held the AEW Women's World Championship for a staggering 290 days. It will be interesting to see whether she will challenge Mercedes Moné for the TBS Title in the coming weeks.
