WWE Hall of Famer urges Tony Khan to "get some help," explains where he's going wrong with AEW
WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has important advice for Tony Khan regarding the creative direction of AEW. Khan is the President of All Elite Wrestling.
The All-Elite Honcho has done a great job in surrounding himself with big names like Dean Malenko, Jimmy Jacobs, Jeff Jarrett, Bryan Danielson, and more in the creative team for AEW shows. However, the television programs as well as the booking of some major stars often get dragged around by fans and many veterans. NXT commentator Booker T has also taken issue with Khan allowing talent to do whatever they want instead of giving them a proper direction.
In a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, the former World Champion slammed Tony Khan for giving too much freedom to his talent.
“Who is going to AEW where they’ve had a long plan? From what I’ve been reading lately, it seems like Tony Khan is just letting these guys pretty much do whatever they want to do. He trusts the talent to go out and do the right thing. Come on. Do you think I could trust the guys in Reality of Wrestling to go out and do whatever they want to do on the show, and the show is gonna come out the way we really need it to be?"
Booker T further explained how he needs help in running his Reality of Wrestling promotion and stated that Khan needs to do the same.
“And I really feel like Tony Khan needs to get a rein on that thing, and really stop producing a show from perspective to where — get some help. Get some help. That’s what he needs to do. Just like me, I need help. I can’t do it alone. I need help… I think that’s what Tony Khan needs more than anything.” [H/T:RingsideNews]
Booker T believes MJF and Will Ospreay should not have wrestled for an hour on AEW Dynamite
Last week on AEW Dynamite's 250th episode, MJF successfully defeated Will Ospreay for the International Championship. The match was surprisingly an hour long which also met with some criticism by many.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T claimed that fans do not want to see hour-long matches as they lose interest:
"An hour of broadway on television these days? (...) I don't know. I could be wrong but I don't think people are interested in watching people wrestle for an hour on TV these days. But I could be wrong on that."
MJF recently replaced the International Title with the AEW American Championship. It will be interesting to see how long the American Title stays in All Elite Wrestling.
