WWE legend calls Mercedes Mone's babyface run in AEW a "bad dream;" gives frank opinion on heel turn

WWE legend Eric Bischoff recently shared his honest thoughts on Mercedes Mone's heel turn. The CEO made her AEW debut at the Big Business special edition of Wednesday Night Dynamite in March 2024.

Mercedes Mone recently transitioned into a heel after debuting as a babyface back in March. She captured the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing and became a double champion at the AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door PPV, where she defeated former NJPW Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer in a Winner Takes All Match.

On his 83 Weeks podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer called the erstwhile Sasha Banks' initial booking as a babyface a "bad dream" and heaped praise on her recent character change. Eric Bischoff also spoke about the company bringing back Dr. Britt Baker and called it a good decision.

"It's almost like this is cool enough for me that I can almost pretend I didn't see what I saw a couple of months ago. I can almost forget it. It's like, 'Ok, it's a bad dream. It just happened, and it will never happen again. Let's move on and see what this is all about!' I'm at that point. Mostly because somebody woke up and said, 'She's [Mercedes] not a babyface. We should have never done that. So, let's make her a heel!' Good decision. 'Let's bring back Britt [Baker]!' Better decision. Not better, just as good!" he said. [20:04-20:42]

AEW star Britt Baker recently broke character to praise Mercedes Mone

The D.M.D and The CEO might be having a heated rivalry for the TBS Title on AEW TV, but the former Women's World Champion has plenty of respect for Mercedes Mone in real life.

In an interview on Close Up with Renee Paquette, Britt Baker praised the former WWE Superstar and called the potential in-ring encounter with The CEO her ''dream match.''

"First, and even now, it's exciting. She's arguably one of the biggest names in women's wrestling and has been for a very long time. It's cool that she chose AEW first and foremost. That was super rewarding because she's always been one of my favorite wrestlers, and I've been very open about that. I've said that in many interviews. It was always a dream match of mine," Baker said. [H/T: Fightful]

The match between Mercedes Mone and Britt Baker for the TBS Title at All In 2024 has yet to be made official by the Tony Khan-led promotion. It will be interesting to see if the duo lock horns at Wembley next month.
