WWE legend claims AEW made a huge mistake with Daniel Garcia
A WWE legend has claimed that AEW supposedly missed an interesting storytelling opportunity with Daniel Garcia. The latter made his return to television this week on Dynamite.
The future status of the Red Death was a center-point of conversation over the past few weeks after reports emerged of WWE's keen interest in signing Garcia. This led to AEW viewers waiting in anticipation of news of either his comeback or departure. The former ROH Pure Champion returned to Dynamite this week and emphatically voiced his decision to stay All Elite and declared his mission statement in the company moving forward.
On a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray interestingly claimed that Daniel Garcia's storyline could have referenced WWE's interest in recruiting his services, during his AEW Dynamite promo. He felt the star could have feigned a potential departure before ultimately declaring his commitment to the Tony Khan-led promotion.
"If I'm Daniel Garcia, I'm walking out to that ring with a manila envelope... And I start to talk about the contract that I have in my hand. And then I would tell the people, 'This is not an [All Elite Wrestling] contract. This is a contract from another wrestling company. And I think you all know what wrestling company this contract is from. And I gotta be honest people, this is a very lucrative contract. And the numbers on this contract [are] almost double than what was offered to me by Tony Khan and [All Elite Wrestling].' [...] This is coming off the top of my head, because this is so easy... And then Daniel Garcia says, 'I'm staying with AEW,'" he said.
Daniel Garcia met up with multiple AEW stars backstage on Dynamite
The October 8, 2024 edition of Dynamite saw Renee Paquette catch up with a returning Daniel Garcia backstage. The latter would address the crowd in the Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington from the ring and announce that as one of the best pro-wrestlers in the world currently, he had elected to continue being All Elite, seemingly confirming his future with AEW.
Later, Garcia would be seen interacting with several All Elite Wrestling talent backstage, including Isiah Kassidy, Anna Jay, Colt Cabana, and Conglomeration members Orange Cassidy and Kyle O'Reilly. He would also be greeted by Katsuyori Shibata in what could be a tease for a future program featuring The Wrestler and the budding star.
Considering recent reports claiming that All Elite Wrestling has significant creative plans in store for Daniel Garcia, it remains to be seen what lies next for the 26-year-old star in the Jacksonville-based promotion.
