WWE legend explains why Britt Baker was uncomfortable during AEW Dynamite segment with Mercedes Mone
A WWE Hall of Famer pointed out how the former AEW Women's World Champion Britt Baker was uncomfortable during her segment with Mercedes Mone. Baker was confronted by Mone on Dynamite this week. the legend in question here was Bully Ray, who gave his opinion on the confrontation between the two.
After making her blockbuster return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Dr. Britt Baker showed up on Dynamite this Wednesday. During her passionate promo in Chicago, Britt was interrupted by the TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone. The two had a heated exchange during the segment as well.
Fans in Chicago were entirely behind Baker, as they booed Mone during the segment. Meanwhile, Bully Ray explained how Britt Baker was seemingly uncomfortable with her babyface promo on Dynamite.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully stated the following:
"At first, I could tell that Britt was uncomfortable embracing the babyface promo. Because I don't know if she really thought it was going to work or if she still had the fear of acceptance and whether the people would buy into her or not. They did! They wanted to love Britt tonight and I think they're gonna wanna love Britt into the future. They're gonna wanna love Britt because she has been there from day one and she has been a pillar of AEW, as she reminded the audience tonight." [7:00-7:39]
He also explained why people are going to hate Mercedes Mone
Mercedes Mone, since her arrival at the Jacksonville-based promotion, has had only a handful of bouts but is already a double title holder. She won the TBS Championship after defeating Willow Nightingale in her first match in AEW. At Forbidden Door, she won the NJPW STRONG Women's Title from Stephanie Vaquer.
Add in the fact that Britt is often considered one of the pillars of AEW and has been there from day one, WWE legend Bully Ray explained that fans will now hate Mercedes Mone in her feud with Britt Baker because of her ego and acting like a heel. Bully stated:
"They are going to hate Mercedes because Mercedes has an ego, she has a chip on her shoulder. Everything about Mercedes screams, drips, reeks heel, you saw it and you heard it tonight." [7:40-7:58]
Moreover, Baker challenged Mercedes to a big match at All In 2024 in Wembley. Only time will tell if the match will be made official for AEW's biggest show.
