WWE legend has "nothing against" AEW despite past issues, admits having a "peep" after Hurt Syndicate's debut (Exclusive)

WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long seemingly has no issues with AEW despite their controversial remarks towards him. The veteran was supposedly told that All Elite Wrestling doesn't hire old people.

While AEW's product often gets trashed around by some fans and veterans, they do have some great storylines currently underway. The Hurt Syndicate's current storyline is an example of one that has received nothing but praise from fans, including former WWE SmackDown GM, Teddy Long.

In the recent edition of Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Time Machine podcast with Mac Davis, WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long said that he had nothing against AEW and often tuned in to see what the promotion was doing. He even went on to praise the recent angle of The Hurt Syndicate.

"I got nothing against them. Sometimes, I get a chance, I peep at them to see what they're doing, specially since MVP and Shelton Benjamin and those guys. I kinda like and see what they are doing. I'm not totally out with them, I just didn't like some comments that they made about me." [4:52 - 5:10]

Teddy Long on why he never refused former WWE President Vince McMahon

Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon thrived on producing often controversial storylines for the product. Teddy Long has also been involved in his fair share of such storylines during his time with the promotion as SmackDown's General Manager.

In a recent edition of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine podcast, Teddy Long was asked by host Mac Davis about why he never refused to do such storylines. Teddy said that he knew it wasn't real and if he did refuse it, McMahon would do the story himself.

"Well, no, you couldn't have done that. You already know it's not real. So, why would you say you'll not do it. In my philosophy, I always told you - I always did what was asked of me because if I didn't, Vince [McMahon] would do it." (4:06-4:28)

Teddy Long occasionally makes appearances for the Stamford-based promotion after serving as Friday Night SmackDown's General Manager from 2004 to 2012.
