WWE legend reacts to AEW star Bryan Danielson's comments on John Laurinaitis' personal life
AEW star Bryan Danielson made a few interesting remarks on former WWE executives Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis this week. The comments brought on a mixed bag of feedback from fans on social media, and now a certain wrestling legend has weighed in.
The American Dragon once worked for Mr. McMahon and saw him as somewhat of a father figure, while Johnny Ace is his father-in-law. In 2016 Laurinaitis married Kathy Colace, who is the mother of The Bella Twins aka The Garcia Twins, Nikki and Brie. Danielson has been married to Brie since 2014.
Danielson indicated that Laurinaitis may be his ex-father-in-law, in what looks to be a reference to the ongoing scandal in which Laurinaitis and McMahon were accused of sexual misconduct by a former employee.
The legendary Dutch Mantell believes Danielson's comments are very telling of the situation in the Laurinaitis household. Speaking on his Story Time podcast, the 52-year industry veteran reacted to Danielson's remarks as they were being read by his co-host.
"Ex-father-in-law? [laughs] So, it's not going too good... well, I think any other woman would've divorced him [John Laurinaitis] by now, even if it wasn't true, but I'm sure it is true," Dutch Mantell said. [From 3:22 to 3:45]
Dutch's co-host continued reading the comments from Danielson, and Dutch gave his thoughts on how the ROH Hall of Famer handled the question. The former Zeb Colter of WWE mentioned how everyone involved knew about Vince's extramarital antics.
"Well, I think he [Bryan Danielson] handled it well. I do, because everybody understands that... and he cannot say anything openly for publication, that gets out. He may say the wrong thing or it could be misinterpreted of what he said, and then he's in a family fight. So, yeah... he handled it the right way, not only for the interview but I think he handled it the right way as far as family is concerned," Dutch Mantell said. [From 4:35 to 5:10]
He continued:
"I don't think the relationship between John and his wife is going very well. I think any wife that got that information, and they all knew about Vince, too. I mean, that's common knowledge within the corridors up in Stamford and WWE HQ... what Vince's like, common knowledge, and I don't think it's going very well for them, but we'll see," Dutch Mantell said. [From 5:11 to 5:42]
Laurinaitis and McMahon have vehemently denied all accusations, which they continue to fight separately. Danielson will face AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland in a Career vs. Title Match at All In later this month.
