WWE Legend reveals if he's on bad terms with AEW following recent comments
AEW recently celebrated its 5th anniversary and they are currently waiting for one of the biggest announcements in company history. Despite the recent success, there have also been numerous negative stories, such as the drop in ratings and departures. One major star has just cleared the air on how he feels about Tony Khan and his main wrestling promotion.
Matt Hardy joined All Elite Wrestling in March 2020 and left this past April when his contract was not renewed following negotiations. Jeff Hardy became All Elite in March 2022 but left the company earlier this month after his contract also expired. The Hardy Boys are once again working for TNA. Matt previously expressed frustration over how they were booked in AEW, and combined with media comments being taken out of context.
It was speculated that the 16-time WWE champion was on bad terms with Khan and All Elite Wrestling. Speaking on his Extreme Life podcast, Big Money Matt continued to praise his former employer, while also clearing up some of the online talk. The 32-year veteran was asked how he felt about All Elite Creative and how he felt about Khan, and the company, as a whole:
"I greatly enjoyed being at AEW. I think Tony Khan's a great guy, I think he takes incredible care of all his performers at AEW, and I'd never fault him for that. I just think some of the creative decisions that were made, once Jeff came back and he spent 3 or 4 months kind of proving himself, and trying to earn everyone's respect, and trust back, and what-not. I just feel like following that, we could have been capitalized more on, and that’s really the only issue that I had any gripes with," Matt Hardy said. [From 5:49 to 6:20]
Hardy continued:
"We were well compensated while we were working there, I have zero complaints about that. I loved my time at AEW overall... I love the roster there, a bunch of great people, a bunch of great men and women. Good, good stuff. Yeah, I was just frustrated with these things, and the fact that people maybe didn't listen to it, they just read headlines, and things were taken out of context," Matt Hardy said. [From 6:21 to 6:42]
Broken Matt Hardy went on to reiterate how he has "lots and lots" of love for AEW, adding that he wants to see the company thrive and succeed. Hardy noted that he was just talking about his personal experiences, and how things could have been done differently to maximize, and optimize, The Hardy Boys.
