WWE legend's son challenges AEW President Tony Khan to a Steel Cage Match
A WWE Legend's son has issued a major challenge to AEW President Tony Khan. The name in question is none other than Fit Finlay's son David Finlay.
The IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion David Finlay has become one of the major players in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He recently defeated AEW star Konosuke Takeshta in the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament. After the match, Finlay took some major jabs at All Elite Wrestling CEO Tony Khan and challenged him to a match.
Speaking to Tokyo Sports, David Finlay proposed a Steel Cage Match against All-Elite CEO Tony Khan at the Wrestle Dynasty PPV. Finlay stated that if he wins the match, he'll get Tony Khan's bank account number.
"I don't think there's a wrestler who can beat me in AEW, and if there's someone who wants to try, I'm willing to challenge him, but there are only guys below me in that organization. I can think positively about a Cage Match with [president and billionaire] Tony Khan. If I win, I'll get his bank account number." [H/T: Fightful]
Tony Khan has the final say in the AEW creative according to QT Marshall
AEW CEO Tony Khan is also the head of creative in the Jacksonville-based promotion. The booking team consists of top names like Dean Malenko, Jeff Jarrett, Sonjay Dutt, and more.
In a recent edition of the Keepin'It 100 podcast, QT Marshall spoke about how Tony Khan operates as the creative head of All Elite Wrestling. He revealed that Khan allows stars like Chris Jericho to pitch their ideas but also tweaks them by implementing his direction.
"I think when it goes to the inmates running the asylum like that, they do have some, you know, say when they come up with stuff, but he's not always gonna just say, 'Yes, right!' like even all the way to Chris Jericho, like, he'll say something, and Tony will say, like, 'Well, no! We're not gonna do that because this is going on and X, Y, and Z,' and Chris will say, 'Okay, yeah, that makes sense,' or he's gonna try to fight it," he said.
Tony Khan has stated that he will someday step down as the head of creative in All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see who takes over his position when the time comes.
