WWE legend teases massive rematch against Adam Copeland months after leaving AEW
A former WWE United States Champion has teased a blockbuster rematch featuring Adam Copeland, a few months after the former departed AEW. Matt Hardy thinks there is still a chance that he and Jeff Hardy could team up to face Copeland and Christian Cage.
No discussion about tag team wrestling is complete without the mention of The Hardys and Adam Copeland & Christian. These duos revolutionized tag team wrestling in WWE with the innovative offense in the late 90s and continue to influence a generation of performers. Many expected the two forces could collide again in AEW, but this wasn't to be as Matt and Jeff Hardy left the company.
However, on his Extreme Life with Matt Hardy podcast, the WWE legend mentioned that it still wasn't too late for a potential clash pitting The Hardys against Copeland and Christian. He also stated that there was a "window" when they could have rekindled the feud during their prime years but it never materialized.
"I mean, it is what it is. There was a window of time where we could have done something. I don’t even know if it had to be the last match. I think if you would have ended up doing something where you get all four of us on the same page or some sort of cause or whatever. I just think the nostalgia behind that would’ve been a big deal. We could have ultimately got down to doing one last match. I don’t know. It’s pro wrestling and I have no idea what is next for anyone, so just never say never. It would have been nice to be able to capitalize on our history together and do something together, but who knows. Who knows what the future holds," he said. [H/T - Fightful]
WWE legend Mark Henry on Adam Copeland's injury
A few weeks back in a conversation with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Mark Henry spoke about Copeland and the horrific leg injury the latter had suffered at AEW Double or Nothing 2024 that ruled him out of action for several months.
The WWE legend stated that he felt bad about how things went down and was hoping for a quick return for the 50-year-old.
"I think he said it best the day after. 'I don't know what I was thinking, my mind still says 100 miles an hour but my body says keep it under 55.' I love that dude. I feel bad for him," said Henry.
Though a recent report suggested the former TNT Champion was recovering well, no timeline has been set for his return to action in AEW.
