WWE legend thinks Shane McMahon could be working with Tony Khan and AEW for a big reason after picture of private meeting gets leaked
The wrestling world is in a frenzy following a leaked photo of Shane McMahon and AEW President Tony Khan. Reports have revealed that the two held a meeting, and though many fans are wondering when the former WWE Superstar might debut for All Elite Wrestling, Bully Ray thinks the meeting could have been about something else entirely.
Rumors began churning that Shane McMahon could link up with AEW after McMahon reportedly bumped into Mercedes Mone at an airport last month. The new photo of the former WWE star's meeting with Tony Khan has sparked talk of Vince McMahon's son potentially working with the Jacksonville-based promotion, but what kind of partnership could the two have?
Wrestling legend Bully Ray believes that Shane McMahon could work with AEW to increase its international profile. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the WWE Hall of Famer pointed out that McMahon has experience running companies in China, referring to Shane's experience as CEO of China Broadband, Inc. and You On Demand:
"I'm not saying that this conversation about the wrestling business has to do with Shane being brought in as a talent to AEW, Shane buying into AEW. Shane, I forget exactly what Shane does for a living, but it's very, very detached from pro wrestling, and I believe he does a lot of his business overseas. Maybe the business meeting is about how Shane's company can help AEW overseas and break into a different market, because I believe Shane was working on a big deal with China for the WWE." WWE legend urges Tony Khan to hire Shane McMahon
Shane McMahon is a polarizing figure among hardcore wrestling fans. While many appreciate what he's done for the business, his last few years in WWE left much to be desired for many viewers.
While some fans are questioning whether Shane could provide a positive contribution to AEW, wrestling legend Lex Luger thinks it would be a great idea for Tony Khan to bring him on board. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Luger had this to say:
"100%. I think he [Khan] should do it. I feel that with the way the wrestling business, with all its different platforms, and they way it's exploding like we've never seen before, absolutely, 100%. I think it [would] be a great idea to bring Shane in," Luger said.
Shane McMahon is known for his daredevil stunts and hardcore style in the squared circle, but at 54 years old, many aren't sure whether it's wise for him to get back in the ring. Whether the former WWE Superstar signs on as an on-screen talent or works in some other role remains to be seen.
