WWE sends official message on late AEW star Brodie Lee's birth anniversary
AEW and WWE fans have been paying tribute to the late Jonathan Huber, aka Brodie Lee, today. The legendary grappler made a strong connection with fans over the years and an even stronger bond with his colleagues, which is why his unexpected passing left such an impression. WWE just paid tribute to Brodie today, and his wife has responded.
The Big Rig tragically passed away on December 26, 2020. Brodie had just turned 41 years old. Today would have marked the 45th birthday of the one-time AEW TNT Champion. The wrestling world has continued to honor Lee since his passing, and today there are numerous tributes from fans, wrestlers, and promotions Lee worked for.
WWE also paid tribute to the former Luke Harper today. The company's official X (fka Twitter) account touted Brodie's birthday and shared a photo of the Intercontinental Champion during WrestleMania 33 Weekend.
"Remembering Jon Huber, known to WWE fans as Luke Harper, today on his birthday," wrote WWE with the photo below.
Brodie's wife responded to WWE and thanked them for the tribute. This came after a touching post of her own. She also commented on how this is one of her favorite photos of her husband.
"Thank you for sharing this. One of my all time favorite photos of him [blue heart emoji]," Amanda Huber wrote.
Lee joined WWE in March 2012 and was released in December 2019. He joined AEW in March 2020. Harper's last WWE match was at a non-televised live event in Washington, DC, on November 16, 2019. He teamed with Robert Roode, Cesaro, and Dolph Ziggler for a loss to The Lucha House Party, Shorty G, and Apollo Crews.
