WWE tried “hard” to stop Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) from appearing in major show

AEW star Mercedes Mone (FKA Sasha Banks) recently disclosed how WWE tried ''hard'' to stop her from acting in a popular show. The CEO also claimed how things were different in Tony Khan's promotion.

Although Mercedes Mone is currently a part of AEW, she spent a decade of her career as a WWE Superstar. However, the former RAW Women's Champion left the Stamford-based promotion in 2022, allegedly due to some creative issues. The erstwhile Sasha Banks became All Elite earlier this year. She is currently the reigning AEW TBS Champion and NJPW Strong Women's Champion.

Aside from wrestling, Mercedes also pursued a career in acting and was featured in the popular Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. Speaking on the HOT 97 podcast, the 32-year-old revealed how WWE didn't want her to do the Disney+ series. The CEO also admitted that AEW would never do that, claiming that Tony Khan would fully support her in her acting career.

“WWE tried so hard to not make me do The Mandalorian. And put me on House Shows when I was supposed to film. It was pulling teeth just to get on that show. Here at AEW, I have all the time in the world to go do acting and more. And Tony Khan will pick me up on the private jet, take me to the shows, and back to the other show to film,” she said. Mercedes Mone is now a double champion

At the recent AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door event, Mercedes Mone locked horns with Stephanie Vaquer in a Winner Takes All Match for the TBS Title and the NJPW Strong Women's Championship. After a great match, Mercedes defeated Vaquer to become a double champion.

After her victory, The CEO was interrupted by Dr. Britt Baker, who made her first appearance since September 2023. Henceforth, only time will tell where the story between Baker and Mone goes after their face-off at Forbidden Door.
