WWE veteran claims Vince McMahon could be planning to use his son to get revenge over the new regimeĀ (Exclusive)
A WWE veteran recently made a bold claim about Vince McMahon potentially using Shane McMahon for a controversial move. The veteran is none other than Vince Russo.
Vince McMahon stepped down as the chairman of the WWE in 2022 after facing several allegations. The company's new owners, TKO relieved McMahon of the rest of his duties within the Stamford-based promotion earlier this year. Many have been wondering what McMahon's next big move in professional wrestling could be and it seems like former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo has seemingly figured it out.
In a recent exclusive on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, Vince Russo claimed that Tony Khan's exit strategy after the ratings decline could very well be selling AEW to Shane McMahon. The veteran further stated that Shane's intention behind purchasing the promotion was to hand it over to his father, Vince McMahon.
"I just think bro, if failure is staring him in the face, in other words, the licensing deal does not get renewed by TBS and TNT and they're having a problem finding a partner, how does that make him look? What are you gonna do bro, put the show on YouTube? If it comes down to something like that bro, that could be a strategic exit for him where he doesn't look like a complete failure. If he knows he's having trouble getting a television deal, and then he sells the company to Shane McMahon, who literally is buying the company probably for his dad, then he can get out of the situation without looking like a total failure. Former WWE star EC3 further gave his thoughts on Shane McMahon to AEW
The current NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion EC3 also spoke on the big rumor about Shane heading to AEW. Speaking on the same podcast, the former NXT star claimed that Shane moving to AEW or potentially purchasing the company is very unlikely.
"I think Tony [Khan] would still have the aspect of this business that everything is fun and friends and playtime happy hour and stuff like that where if they were to be trying to do something, it would come in the guise of this 'Trojan Horse.' I didn't even think about it till Vince [Russo] brought it up, but it would be something like 'Oh, Shane's going to work for AEW,' like it would be some giant thing that's been backroom, plotting while Tony's [Khan] gleefully just writing on a whiteboard 'Dream match, dream match, dream match..." Shane McMahon has yet to address the huge rumors about his AEW arrival. The veteran might shock the world and return to WWE to put the on-going speculations to rest.
