Xavier Woods reacts after Kenny Omega takes a massive dig at him
Kenny Omega is still out of action after contracting diverticulitis late last year. While he's scheduled to make his in-ring return with NJPW in January, the former AEW World Champion recently revived an old rivalry with WWE Superstar Xavier Woods on social media. Woods has now responded.
Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods have been friends and rivals for more than a decade. The two have never faced off in the ring, but they've competed in Tekken and Street Fighter countless times, most famously at E3 2018.
The two are known to take shots at each other on social media, and Omega revived that tradition today. After Woods posted his three favorite things on X/Twitter—pro wrestling, video games, and cosplay—The Best Bout Machine claimed that he was still waiting for the WWE Superstar to try the first one.
Xavier Woods responded to this dig by referring to Omega's diverticulitis as a "little tummy ache."
"You haven't seen me wrestle? Ah you don't have cable, that tracks. Ill be wrestling on Netflix soon so you can watch me there. You still out from your little tummy ache?"
Kenny Omega seemingly references WWE Superstar CM Punk
Xavier Woods isn't the only WWE Superstar Kenny Omega has taken a swing at recently. Following his backstage brawl with NJPW's Gabe Kidd, the former AEW World Champion seemingly referenced CM Punk.
Omega tangled with Kidd backstage at NJPW Power Struggle. In explaining the incident to Tokyo Sports, The Best Bout Machine recalled an incident in AEW:
"He suddenly pushed me and took a fighting stance. I immediately remembered the incident that happened in AEW. I won't say his name, but I thought that Gabe was unfit to be a professional, just like that guy. He said a lot of bad things about AEW, but that's irrelevant now. For now, I can't trust Gabe," he said.
Omega seems to be referencing the infamous "Brawl Out" incident, which took place backstage following AEW All Out 2022. That night, CM Punk and Ace Steel got into a locker room fight with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, which resulted in the suspension of all involved.
