"You’re always welcome at AEW" - Willow Nightingale invites a massively popular star
AEW currently features some of the best female talents in the world, such as Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, Jamie Hayter, "Timeless" Toni Storm, Mercedes Moné, and more. One among them is former TBS Champion Willow Nightingale. Nightingale is known for her unique in-ring abilities and dominating wrestling style.
She recently gave a shoutout to American singer and songwriter Chappell Roan on Twitter. Nightingale is a former AEW TBS Champion and the inaugural Strong Women's Champion. Furthermore, she currently holds the World Women's Championship in CMLL, a Mexican promotion that works closely with All Elite Wrestling.
26-year-old Chappell Roan performed at the ongoing Lollapalooza music festival. Interestingly, her outfit was inspired by luchadores. She was seen wearing a pink singlet and a lucha libre mask. This has become the talk of the wrestling world, as something like this was completely unexpected.
Nightingale also noticed Roan's outfit and was seemingly delighted to see professional wrestling represented on such a massive stage. She invited the singer to watch a wrestling show to express her gratitude.
"Hi @ChappellRoan ! If you ever want to come to a wrestling show, you’re always welcome at @AEW 💖," Willow wrote.
AEW star Willow Nightingale reconnected with professional wrestling in college
In a recent conversation with Bleacher Report, Willow Nightingale revealed that she was a massive fan of wrestling as a child.
However, her passion faded in high school. Interestingly, she reconnected with it in college and hasn't looked back since then.
"Wrestling kind of got away from me a little bit when I was in high school. When I went to college, it kept reappearing in my life and I was reminded, like, 'Oh my god, yes! This is the thing I love.' When college didn't work out for me, I gave it a shot and here we are some nine years later and it's really working out for me," said Nightingale. [H/T Bleacher Report]
Willow Nightingale held the AEW TBS Championship for over a month before losing it to Mercedes Moné at Double or Nothing earlier this year.
