Not Ricochet, but a 4-time champion is AEW's masked mystery man? Exploring the possibility

Last night on Collision, AEW dropped a teaser of a new star potentially coming to the promotion. However, it may be a return instead of a brand-new signing.

The teaser saw a masked star going into a portal, and many quickly jumped to the conclusion and claimed that the man behind the mask was former WWE star Ricochet, who recently left the Stamford-based promotion.

Some recent reports have also talked about Sammy Guevara, who has been off television since February 2024. The Spanish God got suspended for hitting his finishing move on a concussed Jeff Hardy during their No Disqualification match on AEW Rampage.

Guevara is reportedly ready to return to TV and is waiting for the creative to devise plans for his return. The former TNT Champion could possibly be revealed as the man behind the mask instead of Ricochet. Sammy Guevara adopting a new gimmick can also be the much-needed change he needs in his career.

Ricochet adds more value to AEW without wearing a mask

Former United States Champion Ricochet certainly gained popularity during his time in the WWE from 2018 to 2024. Despite his underwhelming booking, he has won multiple titles and became one of the major stars of the Stamford-based promotion.

The highflyer is reportedly set to head to AEW after his recent WWE departure. Ricochet was known as Prince Puma and used to wear a mask before coming to the WWE. However, he is now an established star and is not required to wear a mask after arriving in All Elite Wrestling.

Recent reports have suggested some out-of-the-box plans for Sammy Guevara

It was recently reported that All Elite Wrestling has some interesting plans for Sammy Guevara. The former TNT Champion wearing a mask could be the plan, as it will help reinvent his character.

Sammy Guevara has turned heel and babyface multiple times in his AEW career but has not yet reached his full potential. The masked character could be a step in the right direction for the Spanish God, which could also open up the possibility of reverting back to his old character anytime.

The Character fits Sammy Guevara's high-flying wrestling style

The Spanish God is one of the best high-flyers in All Elite Wrestling. The recently teased masked character also fits the description of Guevara's high-flying wrestling style.

The company putting Sammy Guevara in a mask could be the much-needed reset he needs after his recent suspension. The former TNT Champion can work as a high-flying babyface and get the fans behind him, or he could also work as a heel and get heat from the audience.

It will be interesting to see which star gets revealed as the man behind the mask. Many still believe that it would be former WWE star Ricochet. We will have to wait and see the reveal in the coming weeks.
