Only one AEW star deserves to be Paul Wight's (aka Big Show) retirement opponent
Paul Wight is certainly one of the biggest stars in the world of professional wrestling. He is currently signed to AEW. However, he is best known for his time in WCW and WWE. In the former, he was known as The Giant, while in the Stamford-based promotion, he was known as Big Show.
Paul Wight is currently 52 years old. His career has spanned close to three decades and, throughout it, he has won numerous championships. Unfortunately, it appears that he will hang up his boots in the not-so-distant future. Having a good retirement match is a dream for every wrestler, and AEW could rightfully give him one.
The seven-footer's retirement opponent should be none other than former AEW TNT Champion, Powerhouse Hobbs. This is because both men have similar statures and possess bigger-than-life personalities. Hobbs is currently sidelined due to injury, however, on his return, he could feud with Wight. The two men reportedly have mutual respect for one another. In a recent interview, the former WWE Champion called the 'Don Callis Family' member "amazing" and also revealed that he is one of the nicest people in the business.
A match between the two juggernauts could only happen in the distant future when they will be 100% ready for in-ring competition. 2025 could be the year; however, this is only speculation for now. There could also be a 'passing of the torch' moment between them, and Wight also wanted to have a retirement like "The Icon" Sting.
Paul Wight on Powerhouse Hobbs
In a recent interview with Downunder The Ring, Paul Wight sang former TNT Champion Powerhouse Hobbs' praises.
"Will Hobbs is amazing. I have nothing but nice things to say about Will. One: He looks like an absolute monster. Two: He is one of the nicest, humble human beings – and I’ve met a lot of people in this business – Will Hobbs is top three most humble and nice people I’ve ever met." said Wight. [H/T: F4wonline]
For the time being, it is unclear what the future holds for both men.
