35-year-old AEW star undergoes surgery; recovery time uncertain - Reports
AEW is headed into its annual holiday television specials and the second annual World's End pay-per-view, featuring the Continental Classic. While many All Elite stars are looking to close the year on a high note, a top talent is back on the shelf. New details have emerged regarding the surgery and how the injury occurred.
Juice Robinson was pulled from the Continental Classic after suffering an injury during his Blue League opening-round loss to Will Ospreay at the AEW Collision tapings on November 27. It had been reported that the injury occurred within the first few minutes of the 13-minute match.
Rock Hard has now undergone a surgical procedure to repair his leg. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter adds that Robinson had successful surgery on his broken fibula this past Monday, December 9. There is still no word on how long the 35-year-old would be on the shelf.
Sources also revealed fresh information on how the injury occurred. There was talk of Robinson getting hurt before the halfway point, during a Sunset Flip. However, The Observer now reports that Robinson suffered the freak injury much later in the match while trying to prevent a roll-up before the Styles Clash. An angle not caught by the broadcast revealed Juice's leg bent in a very awkward position.
Robinson had zero points when he was replaced in the AEW C2 by Komander. The masked grappler has been eliminated from the competition after losses to Darby Allin and Ricochet, along with Robinson's loss to Ospreay.
