AEW has “creative plans” in place for former WWE star who came back to the company after 2 years - Reports
A former WWE Superstar who was absent from AEW for over two years seemingly has "creative plans" in place for him following his return. Lio Rush worked in WWE from 2017 to 2020 predominantly on the the NXT brand.
The Man of the Hour made his debut in the Tony Khan-led promotion in May 2021, where he participated in Double or Nothing's Casino Battle Royale. After signing with the promotion later in the year, he wrestled a handful of matches in the promotion before becoming a free agent in early 2022. His last matches during that period came in December 2021. He then worked in NJPW and TNA Wrestling.
Rush made his shocking return to AEW in May 2024, where he was part of a Battle Royal. Since his comeback, he has been putting on top-notch performances. He recently teamed up with Rocky Romero, Shane Haste, and Mike Nicholls and lost against Blackpool Combat Club on Collision.
As per reports from Fightful, the 29-year-old star will be regularly appearing in AEW, and the company has creative plans in place for him. As of now, no update has been provided about Lio's contract. However, it was noted that he received a positive response upon his return to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
Lio Rush is set to face Action Andretti for the TNT Qualifying Match where the winner will get a shot at the vacant TNT Championship at Forbidden Door pay-per-view later this month.
