AEW has no "firm plans" for Bryan Danielson to wrestle again; future uncertain - Reports
Bryan Danielson has finished up his run with AEW for now, and it's currently unknown whether he'll ever get back into the ring. A new report recently shed some light on his situation and plans for the immediate future.
Danielson claimed last year that 2025 would see his final run as a full-time wrestler. After winning the AEW World Championship at All In, he became embroiled in a violent and deeply personal feud with Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club.
Moxley defeated The American Dragon at WrestleDream this past weekend, and the BCC brutalized him after the match. While his full-time in-ring career seems to have come to an end, Danielson has stated in the past that even after he finishes up, he might return to action now and again, and he wants to continue with All Elite Wrestling in some capacity.
According to Fightful Select, any plans involving Bryan Danielson will have to wait, as his current priority is getting his neck fixed and spending some well-earned time with his family. Danielson is reportedly not under contract with any company at the moment, and AEW currently has no firm plans for him going forward.
Danielson has been banged up and will likely need neck surgery. Whether the legendary star returns to television in some capacity after that remains to be seen.
Legendary commentator thinks Bryan Danielson is the greatest wrestler of all time
Bryan Danielson has wowed fans with his wrestling prowess throughout his career, but his resurgence with AEW has captivated even the most experienced veterans in the industry.
AEW commentator Tony Schiavone has called the action for many of the top legends in the industry, including Ric Flair. However, the 66-year-old believes that The American Dragon is the best of them all. Speaking on a recent episode of his What Happened When podcast, Schiavone put Danielson above the likes of Flair and Shawn Michaels:
"The only thing I think about right now is how lucky... I’ve talked to you about this, about me feeling lucky. I feel very fortunate to have been there for Bryan Danielson’s, probably his last match, because he’s gotta get healthy. To me, am I wrong to say he’s the best of all-time? Is a man like me, who has watched Ric Flair, who has seen Shawn Michaels, wrong to say that Bryan Danielson’s the best of all-time? Yes, [he’s the number one of all time], for me," Tony Schiavone said.
Danielson's run as a full-time wrestler may have come to an end, but there's a chance he will remain involved with AEW. Whether he rejoins the company as an on-screen talent remains to be seen.
