AEW megastar dropped from event; partnership fallout over personal attacks on Tony Khan's family - Reports
A top star from AEW was recently pulled out of several upcoming appearances for a well-known independent promotion. Now, further details have emerged as to why this may have transpired, and how that relates to Tony Khan and his family.
Some time ago, it was revealed that Ricky Starks had been withdrawn from making future appearances at GCW. The Absolute was featured at the promotion's Dream On event earlier this month, where he seemingly aired his frustration regarding his career trajectory in AEW, as his hiatus in the latter company continues.
Starks was further set to face Matt Cardona at GCW Highest in the Room next month. However, as per the latest update from Fightful Select, Stroke Daddy was informed by All Elite Wrestling that he would be pulled from his scheduled upcoming appearances in GCW - a decision that was reportedly made on November 26.
Furthermore, the update claimed that one of the possible reasons behind the Jacksonville-based promotion pulling Starks out of future dates in GCW could be remarks that GCW talent Effy supposedly made regarding All Elite CEO Tony Khan's father Shad Khan on a recent podcast.
The report also asserted that some individuals in AEW had suggested that Starks could work his recent GCW appearance into an angle, though other sources had indicated that such was not the case. Seeing that the 34-year-old star is supposedly contracted to All Elite Wrestling till 2025, it remains to be seen whether Khan will utilize him on television any time soon.
