AEW rejected former WWE star's request to work with Jon Moxley - Reports
According to recent reports, A former WWE star requested to work with Jon Moxley in AEW earlier this year but was rejected. The star in question is none other than Miro.
The former WWE star signed with AEW in 2020 and quickly became a huge star after winning the TNT Championship. After dropping the title, Miro unfortunately fell victim to some questionable booking and his last match for the company was against Andrade El Idolo at the Worlds End PPV in December 2023. Miro has now reportedly asked for his release from the Jacksonville-based promotion.
In a recent report by Fightful Select, it was revealed that the former United States Champion pitched to work with Jon Moxley earlier this year. However, the promotion turned it down. Miro was also considered to be used in the All In Casino Gauntlet match last month.
"There was some consideration internally to use Miro in the AEW All In Casino Gauntlet, and he had pitched working with Jon Moxley earlier this year. Miro and AEW were unable to get on the same page creatively, something that became a common occurrence for the two sides in recent years." - Fightful Select
Miro recently opened up about what he loves about AEW
The Redeemer has had an underwhelming run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, he had nothing but positive words when discussing the company in a recent interview.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda's Senior Editor Bill Apter, Miro revealed that he loves the freedom of styles in All Elite Wrestling. He stated that the freedom to fight with wrestlers from all over the world attracted him to the Jacksonville-based promotion.
“I love the freedom of styles that we have, right. We have people from Mexico, from Japan, from Bulgaria, from England . You just come in and bring your style and fight the way you want to which I really [want]. What brought me to this company at the first place is that freedom that you get.” [2:42 - 3:00]
Miro has reportedly asked for his release from All Elite Wrestling. It will be interesting to see if he returns to WWE if Tony Khan grants him his release.
