AEW reportedly forced to bleep out words on Dynamite that are no longer allowed
A new report has indicated that AEW's broadcasters bleeped out specific words on this week's Dynamite. Warner Bros. Discovery has seemingly introduced some new policies for its channels.
Since its inception in 2019, AEW has had a different approach to its programming compared to WWE. The Tony Khan-led promotion produces TV-14 shows, allowing the use of foul words and blood.
Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer believes that something has changed lately at Warner Bros. Discovery in terms of language restrictions. On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer noted that WBD was bleeping out "tame stuff" on this week's Dynamite.
"There’s definitely something that’s changed in WBD when it comes to language because they were bleeping tame stuff and they used to let almost everything go. Somebody, somewhere has decided that what they were doing before is no longer kosher." [H/T: WrestleTalk]
Tony Khan on potentially continuing AEW's TV deal with WBD
In a recent interview with WGN Radio, Tony Khan opened up about whether he would like to continue All Elite Wrestling's partnership with WBD after the conclusion of their current deal. Khan revealed that he had great talks with the executives of the media conglomerate.
“I want to keep bringing the shows here as long as possible. We have a great partnership and we’re having great talks. I hope that we are with TBS and TNT for a very, very long time. We’re really happy to be here and I’m really blessed to work for a great leader like Mr. David Zaslav, who has been so great to AEW, and helped us expand [with] more events and expand TNT Saturdays, and has helped us continue to have these great Wednesday nights on TBS.” [H/T: Cageside Seats]
There have been varied reports about Khan's conversations with WBD executives. It remains to be seen whether AEW will continue its deal with the American organization.
