AEW shockingly ordered former WWE star's brother "to verbally antagonize” CM Punk - Reports
The CM Punk-AEW feud continues to live in infamy. Even though The Best in The World is currently a WWE Superstar, from time to time we get to learn new information about this real-life rivalry.
Recently, Fightful reported that the younger brother of Nic Nemeth (fka Dolph Ziggler), Ryan Nemeth, was mistreated by The Second City Saint for weeks in 2023. The 40-year-old allegedly complained to several AEW executives regarding this. However, he never received any help.
Ryan Nemeth reportedly contacted AEW's Head of Legal Megha Parekh numerous times and pleaded for action against CM Punk. The company responded by flying him to the August 16, 2023, show, ordering the 40-year-old to "verbally antagonize" the former AEW World Champion.
In the end, Ryan Nemeth's real issues could not be resolved by All Elite Wrestling. Their solution to the problem was for the 40-year-old to deliver a promo antagonizing Punk.
Nemeth last wrestled for Tony Khan's promotion in November 2023. His contract with the promotion expired earlier this year in March.
CM Punk wants to lock horns with John Cena once again
The rivalry between CM Punk and John Cena is one of the greatest of all time. Earlier this year, The Franchise Player announced that he would embark on a 12-month Farewell Tour.
Interestingly, in a recent interview with WWE analyst Peter Rosenberg on Cheap Heat, CM Punk expressed his desire to battle the 47-year-old one last time next year.
"Another guy that I don’t want to talk about because he’s going to do his own thing. And if I’m a part of that, what a fortunate career I’ve had. But John deserves everything that he wants. I mean, he calls his own shots, is basically what I’m saying. But yeah, I’d love to get my hands on him, too," Punk said. [H/T: Ring Side Intel]
It will be interesting to see if the former rivals lock horns inside the squared circle next year.
