AEW star cleared for in-ring return after 400+ days
An AEW star who has been missing from the squared circle for some time now has finally been cleared for active competition. The talent in question, Mark Davis of Aussie Open, recently made his comeback to All Elite television.
Aussie Open began making appearances in the Tony Khan-led promotion since 2022, and officially signed with the company in May, 2023. Regarded by many to be one of the best tag teams active currently, the duo's All Elite journey suffered a major disruption last year when Mark Davis suffered an injury to his wrist during Aussie Open's match against FTR at WrestleDream 2023.
While Davis has been on the shelf for over a year, his partner Kyle Fletcher has embarked on a blossoming singles career as a member of The Don Callis Family. The latter helped his stable-mate Konosuke Takeshita win the AEW International Championship at WrestleDream this year by turning on his former best friend, Will Ospreay.
Fletcher had later called out The Aerial Assassin to a confrontation on Fright Night Dynamite last month. However, he would instead be met with a returning Mark Davis, who reprimanded his tag partner for betraying their seemingly former United Empire stable-mate. The 34-year-old star also confronted Fletcher after the former ROH World TV Champion's win over Komander on Collision last week.
This week on AEW Dynamite, Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita are set to team against Ricochet and a mystery partner of the latter's choosing. Interestingly, it was reported recently by Fightful Select that Mark Davis has been cleared for in-ring action, which raises the possibility of Dunkzilla teaming up with The Future of Flight against The Don Callis Family.
AEW Dynamite could also witness the return of a former stable-mate of Mark Davis'
While All Elite Wrestling has teased the prospect of Mark Davis squaring off against Kyle Fletcher on its programming recently, there is also a possibility that the former IWGP Tag Team Champion might not be Ricochet's tag partner this Wednesday on AEW Dynamite. Instead, the latter could turn out to be former International Champion Will Ospreay.
The Commonwealth Kingpin has not been seen since he was attacked by Kyle Fletcher with a screwdriver at WrestleDream 2024, which led to his title loss to Konosuke Takeshita. After the match, The Aussie Arrow laid out Ospreay with a Tiger Driver 91, and has vocally cut ties with his former team-mate since.
It remains to be seen if Will Ospreay will return to partner with Ricochet on Dynamite this week.
