Backstage details on blockbuster match for Bryan Danielson in AEW before he retires - Reports
AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson is set to take on Nigel McGuinness at AEW Grand Slam. McGuinness is one of Danielson's fiercest rivals and will be making a singles return in almost 13 years.
The AEW commentator made his return to the ring at All In in the Casino Gauntlet match and later hinted that he could take the chance to come back if the right moment presented itself. He did just that on Dynamite when he announced that he would be taking on Danielson at Grand Slam.
Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer recently spoke about the developments and stated that the match between the long-time rivals had been planned for long.
"From what I understand, the whole McGuinness thing was not something long planned out. You always thought they were going to do [the match] before Danielson retires. I guess New York is a place. They'll probably have a great match." [H/T Wrestling Inc]
