Backstage news on the controversial plastic bag spot at AEW All Out - Reports
AEW All Out saw a controversial spot take place after a current champion was betrayed by his stablemates. New details have come to light regarding this spot.
One of the most highly anticipated matches of the night was Bryan Danielson vs. Jack Perry. The match was as intense as fans expected but it was Danielson who emerged victorious.
Following the match, Killswitch attacked Bryan from behind. Christian Cage then came out and it seemed like he was going to cash in on The American Dragon. However, he was stopped by Jon Moxley and the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club. After Christian backed off, The BCC celebrated in the ring with Danielson.
Soon after this, Claudio Castagnoli hit the AEW World Champion with an uppercut. Moxley then took out a plastic bag and placed it over Danielson's head thereby choking him out.
Fightful Select recently reported that this particular plastic bag spot has been pitched and turned down several times in AEW. It is unclear who has previously pitched this idea or why it was approved this time around.
AEW issued statement after Jon Moxley choked out Bryan Danielson with a plastic bag
There are sure to be some dangerous moments in professional wrestling. However, there are certain spots that are just way too controversial. The plastic bag spot from All Out is one of those moments and it seems like the company is trying to do some damage control.
Following the incident, All Elite Wrestling took to social media to tell fans that they won't be sharing the footage of the attack on Danielson. The company also mentioned that it doesn't condone such actions.
"Due to the graphic nature of the attack on Bryan Danielson, we will not be sharing the footage. AEW does not condone such actions."
Some fans find this statement from the promotion to be a bit strange since Tony Khan himself likely gave the green light for the spot to take place on TV.
