Backstage update on Keith Lee's AEW status - Reports
A huge update on AEW star Keith Lee was recently reported. He last wrestled against Brian Cage in December 2023 on an episode of Collision and has been absent since.
The Limitless star has been one of the biggest powerhouses of the Jacksonville-based promotion. He's had an up-and-down run thus far but is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion alongside Swerve Strickland. Later in 2023, the partners turned into bitter enemies.
At the inaugural Worlds End pay-per-view last December, Keith Lee was scheduled to wrestle Strickland. However, he was suddenly pulled out of the show due to an unrevealed medical issue. In January 2024, he took to X and claimed that he'd had double surgeries for the issue.
Recently, an unfortunate report emerged from Fightful. The update claims that the 39-year-old star is still not cleared to set foot in the squared circle as he is recovering from the medical issue. He has been absent from the promotion for almost 10 months.
Former WWE star Dijak wants to face Keith Lee
The Limitless One and Dijak had multiple encounters in NXT during its black and gold era. The two wrestled several times and gained momentum as rivals.
While speaking on Wrestling With Things, Dijak claimed his contest against Keith would be a 'money match.'
"The only people I'm disinterested in working with are the people who are phoning it in right because I've had plenty of those matches before. [...] I think the money match is obviously myself and Keith Lee, we have a very storied history, I think the fans are going to clamor for that. I think that's the kind of match that you can build an entire pay-per-view around if you really want to," he said.
It will be interesting to see when the powerhouse returns to action in AEW.
