Backstage update on Ricky Starks’ AEW status - Reports
Ricky Starks has been missing from action in AEW for a while now. A backstage update has now emerged regarding his status in the company.
The Absolute made his All Elite Wrestling debut in 2020 and has emerged as one of the company's most beloved performers. However, Starks has not been featured on All Elite programming since he and his former tag partner, Big Bill, were defeated by Top Flight in the quarterfinals of the AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament earlier this year.
Reports regarding the 34-year-old star over the past few months have shared rumors and conjecture about his status in AEW and his potentially imminent jump to WWE. However, it was revealed during a recent Fightful Select Q&A that Ricky Starks is still under contract with the Tony Khan-led promotion.
It remains to be seen whether and when Starks will be brought back to AEW television.
Ricky Starks set the record straight on a major rumor about him
The absence of Ricky Starks in All Elite Wrestling has been a major point of discussion among fans for some time now. A number of potential reasons have been offered and discussed by recent reports to explain the 34-year-old star's current situation in the Jacksonville-based company.
One such report claimed that Starks had rejected pitches from AEW's creative, which may have possibly played a role behind his hiatus. However, after a fan on X/Twitter shared their views on the rumor at the beginning of this month, Stroke Daddy himself cleared things up by contradicting the aforementioned claim.
"Enough is enough. Usually I don’t even speak on this but it’s tired. I never turned down anything, EVER. Just Stop," Starks wrote.
