Big update on AEW's potential new deal with WBD - Reports

AEW has been in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery since its inception in 2019. The deal started with WBD airing Dynamite on TNT, which was later followed by the addition of two more weekly shows, Collision and Rampage.

AEW and WBD have been in the process of negotiating a new TV rights deal for a while now. Their negotiation window ended on July 21.

According to a new report from journalist B.J. Bethel of SEScoops, the two companies have reached an agreement to keep shows on Turner networks for the next several years.

It was added that the new arrangement would allow the Jacksonville-based promotion to stream its content, including PPVs, on the MAX streaming platform. It was also highlighted that the agreement was in principle and on paper but still, the terms could change before the contract gets officially finalized.

Dave Meltzer suggests AEW head Tony Khan to look for alternative broadcasters

The negotiation deal with Warner Bros. Discovery has been going on for a long time, but still, hasn't been finalized for good. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, veteran journalist Dave Meltzer suggested that Tony Khan should explore other options to broadcast AEW's content.

Meltzer added that if Khan brings in other competitors into the negotiation process, then it might put pressure on Warner Bros. to seal the deal with the Jacksonville-based promotion. It could also help to hike the price of the deal.

"AEW would probably do well to start talking to other people because we’re at that point now. It’d probably be good to do that because then they do that, and it does put more pressure on WBD to make the deal. And if you have an outside suitor, you can get that price up," Meltzer said.
