Blackpool Combat Club member dealing with “brain fog,” details of new gimmick - Reports
A lot has changed within The Blackpool Combat Club in the past few weeks. Bryan Danielson has been kicked out, and Jon Moxley has stepped up as the leader of the group.
At the 2024 All Out Pay-Per-View, the fans saw Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli turn on The American Dragon and attack him after he successfully defended his AEW World Championship against Jack Perry. The Swiss star hit the champion with an uppercut and The Purveyor of Violence followed it up by choking him out with a plastic bag. Wheeler Yuta was unable to react because PAC had restrained him.
On the September 18, 2024, edition of AEW Dynamite, Alex Marvez caught up with Yuta backstage and asked him to comment on what transpired within the last few weeks. The Blackpool Combat Club member seemed confused and even made a botch, referring to Grand Slam as WrestleDream.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified that Yuta's botch was intentional and part of the storyline as the star is set to introduce a new gimmick where he will be booked as a lost character on TV.
“If I need to defend these belts at WrestleDream… Alex goes ‘That’s just Grand Slam.’ That’s on purpose by the way. All of Yuta’s interviews are like he can’t remember what he’s being asked, that’s the gimmick right now. He’s got brain fog. His mind is in the clouds.” [H/T: Ringside News]
Wheeler Yuta sides with Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club
Despite, what happened at All Out, Wheeler Yuta has chosen to side with Jon Moxley and The Blackpool Combat Club. On this week's edition of Dynamite, Mox, and Co. called Yuta out and demanded he fight alongside them as he is still one-third of the current AEW World Trios Champion with PAC and Castagnoli.
In the backstage interview with Alex Marvez, Wheeler Yuta stated that he is a fighting champion and will not run away from his responsibilities. Therefore, he'll fight next week alongside PAC and Castagnoli.
