Britt Baker had a "falling out" with MJF; more AEW names involved in the hostile situation - Reports
AEW is preparing for two of its biggest events of the year - All In and All Out - but once again the company is dealing with behind-the-scenes controversy. Britt Baker was recently suspended for an incident with MJF, and there has been no storyline to build to her upcoming title shot. Sources have just revealed more shocking details on the matter.
Dr. Baker recently returned from a near-10-month hiatus and will challenge TBS Champion Mercedes Moné at All In. A brawl between the two broke out on July 25 during AEW's Comic-Con panel, which is where Tony Khan made their match official. The Young Bucks furthered the storyline by issuing a suspension on Wednesday's Dynamite after The CEO complained to the EVPs about Baker harassing her at Comic-Con.
It was then revealed today that Baker's suspension is legitimate due to an incident that broke out following comments she allegedly made about MJF and girlfriend Alicia Atout while backstage at Dynamite 250 on July 17. The AEW American Champion confronted the 2022 Women's Owen Hart Cup winner, and a disciplinary committee investigated the matter on July 24. While the committee was sympathetic to Baker, it was recommended that she receive a fine and a suspension for 1-2 weeks.
Sources have reported that Atout went and told Maxwell Jacob Friedman about what she overheard Baker saying. A new report from Fightful Select notes that Baker was expressing frustration about Friedman within the women's locker room, but word made it back to him as Atout was in the room.
Baker and Atout had a confrontation backstage, and then Baker and Friedman had their own confrontation. At one point, Will Ospreay also spoke with the part-time dentist. The incident happened before MJF's hour-long Dynamite title change opener with Ospreay.
MJF reportedly punched the wall following the argument with Baker. The two AEW Originals had been close friends in the past, but sources report they had some sort of falling out in the last year. Baker also took issue with Atout telling Friedman about what was said in the locker room.
AEW's Human Resources department got involved in the matter, which led to the investigation, and punishment of Adam Cole's long-time girlfriend. It was noted that numerous roster members were involved in the investigation. While Baker has appeared on TV since the incident, the 33-year-old was legitimately suspended.
Baker is still scheduled to wrestle Moné for the TBS Championship at All In. It should be noted that this latest backstage report mentioned how details are still "he said, she said" at this point.
