CM Punk reportedly open to joining top promotion under "right circumstances"
Haus of Wrestling recently reported CM Punk's appearance at an IMPACT Wrestling tapings in Chicago after Bound for Glory pay-per-view. The report claimed Punk appeared backstage and talked to the talent during the visit.
In an update, Fightful Select reported that IMPACT Westling is open to the idea of the Second City Saint joining the promotion, but there is very little chance of it happening. Before his recent appearance, CM Punk visited the company a few months ago, during which he interacted with the people backstage and reportedly made a good impression.
The report also debunked the belief that Ace Steel joining IMPACT Wrestling pointed towards the promotion's interest in signing Punk. Fightful notes that the company was interested in Steel long before the Straight Edge Superstar's recent termination from All Elite Wrestling.
The report claimed that people close to CM Punk didn't think he was interested in joining IMPACT but said he could still work in the promotion at his whim under the right circumstances.
The biggest hurdle to the Best in the World joining the promotion would be the salary, as it was noted that the former WWE Champion's salary in AEW was 15-20 times that of the top wrestlers in TNA.
Thus, the in-ring future of one of the most polarising figures in wrestling is still up in the air, as it would be hard for a small wrestling company like IMPACT to meet the financial requirements.
