Current AEW star expected to join WWE after contract expiry - Reports
A popular AEW star is reportedly leaning towards signing with the WWE after his contract expires. The star in question is none other than Penta El Zero.
The Luchador has been a part of Tony Khan's roster since 2019 however, his contract with the company is set to expire between August and September later this year. WWE is reportedly interested in signing Penta and the veteran might ink a deal with the Stamford-based promotion.
According to a recent report by Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Penta El Zero is looking for the best offer at this stage of his career. The veteran wants a light schedule which WWE might be willing to offer him.
"With Penta, all signs are that at this stage of his career he’d probably wind up going for the best offer, and in the end, that would be the case with most now that WWE has cut back on dates so the schedules aren’t that different.” [H/T: RingsideNews]
AEW star Penta El Zero is not ruling out a potential WWE run in the future
Penta El Zero's contract with AEW is set to expire soon and the veteran is aware of the recent rumors about him potentially signing with the WWE. In an interview with Lalo Elizarraras, the Luchador acknowledged the rumors and hinted at a move to the Stamford-based promotion. However, he also stated that he likes his current position in All Elite Wrestling.
“It was only a rumor, never a request to me or my agent. (...) [WWE] would be a good episode in my career but I do not like to fantasy book. If it happens, it happens. I am focused on AEW and I am happy where I am at right now," he said.
A lot of talent has been willing to come to the WWE ever since Triple H took over as the head of creative. It will be interesting to see if Penta El Zero arrives in the Stamford-based promotion in 2024.
