Details on AEW and WBD's future to be made public soon - Reports

A new report suggested that AEW might announce its deal with Warner Bros. Discovery shortly. The deal could be announced as soon as this Wednesday.

For months, fans have been eagerly waiting for the Tony Khan-led promotion to announce a new WBD deal with the promotion. They have had a great run on TNT and TBS throughout the years. Dynamite was a huge success during the initial years of All Elite Wrestling, occasionally drawing over one million viewers. However, things didn't look good for them, as 2024 frequently has low viewership.

Several weeks ago, huge details about the potential TV deal were reported. The new agreement is claimed to be worth $170 million per year. It also guarantees a three-year contract, with the fourth year optional. However, the arrangement hasn't been made official yet.

A new update from Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer noted that the deal is done, and the company could announce it on Dynamite's fifth anniversary this Wednesday.

“An announcement is just about ready for the new WBD and AEW media rights deal. The deal has been completed. It’s possible it’ll be Wednesday in conjunction with the Dynamite 5th anniversary.”

Dynamite has huge matches lined up for its fifth-anniversary show, with Ricochet vs. Will Ospreay being the main attraction.

Eric Bischoff doesn't believe the AEW-FOX deal is happening

A few weeks ago, a report emerged regarding the Jacksonville-based promotion having talks with FOX about a potential deal after the company trademarked the term 'Shockwave.'

While speaking on the 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff claimed the FOX network will never engage with the promotion.

"It's a fun thing to talk about, makes great clickbait, people speculate because it's kind of cool like a Monday Night Wars thing, 'FOX walked away from WWE but embraced AEW!' It's that low-level, low-hanging fruit that wrestling fans love to have fun with, myself included. It's not FOX Network, which will never put on AEW, ever, ever, ever. That is not happening, but FS1... FOX Sports One? Maybe," he said.

It will be interesting to see if Tony Khan announces the much-awaited TV deal on the upcoming Dynamite.
