Disappointing update on AEW's future with FOX Network - Reports
AEW is heavily rumored to bring a television show to FOX Network after WWE SmackDown's exit last month. However, recent reports suggest that the talks between the Tony Khan-led promotion and FOX might be on hold.
Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland seemingly spoiled the promotion's new deal with FOX in a recent vlog. All Elite Wrestling also filed a trademark for a brand new show seemingly called AEW Shockwave which is rumored to air on FOX in the upcoming months.
In a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that nothing is finalized between All Elite Wrestling and FOX regarding a television show. He further clarified that the talks aren't finished between both parties.
“No, nothing new. No. I have no sense that anything is imminent. I think if it was imminent, we would have an inkling of it, but not that it’s dead either.”
We will have to wait and see if Tony Khan makes an announcement about the deal in the upcoming weeks.
Swerve Strickland recently claimed that AEW is coming to FOX Network
Friday Night SmackDown ended their five-year run on FOX Network last month and rumors of the network wanting to bring in another wrestling show began to circulate shortly. All Elite Wrestling came into the mix when former World Champion Swerve Strickland made an interesting statement regarding a move to FOX.
In a recent Queenzflip Vlog from Sneaker Con NYC, Swerve Strickland claimed that All Elite Wrestling is about to get on FOX Network and will soon be airing on TNT, TBS, and FOX.
"We're about to move, we're about to get on FOX, cause SmackDown's leaving FOX, and then we're taking FOX. TNT, TBS and FOX, we got all three of them things. Tony Khan lets me do whatever the f*** I want." [18:40 - 18:55]
Swerve Strickland later regretted potentially spoiling the big news about All Elite Wrestling coming to FOX Network. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the promotion on FOX.
