Former champion rejects several pitches in AEW; future uncertain - Reports

A former champion's AEW future remains uncertain. He has reportedly rejected several pitches in the company.

Miro's AEW career got off to a flying start after he aligned himself with Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford. He even quickly captured the TNT Championship and dominated his opponents in the ring. However, his run quickly fizzled out and he found himself on the sidelines.

The Redeemer's briefly returned last year and even feuded with Andrade. The two of them competed in a match at Worlds End and since then, Miro hasn't been seen on television. According to a report, the former Rusev recently requested his release from the company.

While speaking on Fightful Select's Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp mentioned that Miro and AEW haven't been on the same page creatively. Miro had pitched to work with Jon Moxley earlier this year and the company wanted him to be part of the Casino Gauntlet Match but neither of those ideas materialized. The former TNT Champion was also supposed to be part of Meat Madness but he wasn't cleared to compete.

“They have not been on the same page whatsoever creatively, AEW or Miro. He had pitched earlier this year possibly wrestling Jon Moxley. I know they had considered or even wanted him to do the Casino Gauntlet Match. Neither one of those things happened. He has not wrestled. Now earlier this year when they had announced Meat Madness, they have hoped he would be in it. they found out he was pretty behind in his injury recovery and it didn’t happen. However, he is healthy based on what I heard.” [H/T: Ringside News]

Dutch Mantell says Miro won't get the same money in WWE that AEW offered him

After joining All Elite Wrestling, Miro was able to impress Tony Khan so much that he was offered a four-year extension on his contract that will end in 2025. It was reported that he was making seven figures in AEW. Despite this, he has seemingly requested his release.

During a recent episode of Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell noted that Miro won't make the same amount of money in WWE.

"I don't blame Miro, but do you think he'd get the same money from WWE? I don't think so. What's he getting from AEW?" Dutch said. [From 40:54 onwards]

It will be interesting to see whether Miro will be granted his release and what is next in his pro wrestling career.
