Former champion spotted ahead of AEW Dynamite; could make first appearance in nearly a year - Reports
Tonight's episode of AEW Dynamite will likely continue to set the stage for Forbidden Door 2024. Ahead of the show, a former World Champion was spotted hanging out with All Elite Wrestling talent.
NJPW's Shingo Takagi is one of the biggest names in Japan. The 41-year-old is a multi-time champion and last held the IWGP World Heavyweight title for more than 200 days in 2021. He's competed at both previous editions of the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view, and it looks like he may be getting involved once again this year.
According to Rami Hanna of Bodyslam.net, Shingo Takagi was spotted at the hotel AEW talent is staying at in Fairfax, Virginia, today. The report claims that he was seen speaking with other wrestlers and having coffee with Bryan Danielson ahead of tonight's AEW Dynamite.
Many fans are hoping to see Bryan Danielson face off with Shingo Takagi at some point. With The American Dragon having wrestled several of NJPW's top stars, a bout with Takagi has become something of a dream match. Whether the two having coffee together means that plans are in the works remains to be seen.
The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament begins tonight on AEW Dynamite
This week's episode of AEW Dynamite will air live from EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA. Some fans are expecting the return of Hangman Adam Page, considering that Virginia is his home state and the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament is set to begin tonight.
This year's tournament features a huge prize, as it was recently announced that the winners will get a shot at their respective divisions' World Championships at All In 2024.
Tony Khan has promised to reveal the brackets for the tournament on AEW Dynamite tonight, and the first match in the series will see PAC take on The Blackpool Combat Club's Claudio Castagnoli.
This year's Owen Hard Foundation Tournament could feature many of the top stars in All Elite Wrestling, similar to the highly successful Continental Classic that debuted in 2023. Having such major contenders vying for a shot at the AEW World Championship lends an air of unpredictability to the tournament, which makes it all the more exciting for fans.
