Former champions gone from AEW until 2025 - Reports
The latest report suggested that the former AEW World Tag Team Champions will be away from AEW until the end of 2024. The top stars recently lost their titles as well.
The stars in question are the former multi-time AEW World Tag Team Champions, The Young Bucks. At Fright Night Dynamite on October 30, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson lost the World Tag Team titles to Private Party in one of the best tag team matches in the company's history. The Bucks also respectfully handed the titles to the new Champions.
After losing their titles, the company's EVPs ran away from the arena in fear of Jon Moxley and the Death Riders leaving their associate, Brandon Cutler, behind to be beaten up backstage. After fleeing from Dynamite, The Bucks stated on their X (fka Twitter) bio that they would be away from the office. Meanwhile, a new report opened up on their upcoming status.
During a recent Q&A session, Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Matthew and Nicholas Jackson are believed not to be seen on All Elite television for the remainder of 2024. The report also stated that The Bucks would be going on a break until the New Year.
The Young Bucks recently announced their return outside AEW
The Young Bucks have yet to compete in Japan since 2019. Through a video shared by New Japan Pro-Wrestling's official X (fka Twitter) handle recently, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson finally announced their highly anticipated return to Japan for the upcoming Wrestle Dynasty event on January 5, 2025, at the Tokyo Dome.
Moreover, the former All Elite World Champion, Kenny Omega, also announced his in-ring return after nearly a year of absence at the Wrestle Dynasty event at the Tokyo Dome on January 5. Hence, fans could expect a confrontation between Omega and The Bucks at the same event. It remains to be seen what transpires at the big event in January.
