Former world champion reportedly set for imminent return to AEW

A former world champion has been absent from AEW for a while now. According to recent reports, his return to TV will likely happen soon.

The star being discussed here is former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jay White. He grew insanely popular when he joined NJPW and also became the leader of Bullet Club.

In 2023 he left the Japanese promotion to sign with the Tony Khan-led company and has been a mainstay on Collision. He is the Bang Bang Gang leader in All Elite Wrestling and a former Unified World Trios Champion (AEW World Trios and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion).

He was last seen in action on the July 6 edition of Collision where he suffered a loss to Hangman Page in the Owen Hart Foundation 2024 Men's Tournament Semi Final match.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for his return. A new update from WrestlePurists Worldwide claimed that the absent star is "set to return to AEW imminently."

Jay White was expected to perform at AEW All In 2024

This year's All In event once again took place at Webley Stadium in London England on August 25, 2024. Jay White was expected to perform at the event but unfortunately couldn't make it.

Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select's Backstage Report podcast disclosed that the Jacksonville-based company wanted him to participate in the Casino Gauntlet match at All In. The week before the event, he underwent a medical examination but did not receive medical clearance from the doctors.

“He was discussed and even considered for the Casino Gauntlet at one point, but he was at TV the week prior and he was there to get checked out. I was told that he’s not cleared as of yet,” Sapp revealed.

While Switchblade couldn't make his return at All In, fans saw someone else make his debut during the Casino Gauntlet match. It was former WWE star Ricochet. Nigel McGuiness also returned to wrestling after 13 long years during the same bout.
