Former WWE star seemingly teases becoming new GM of AEW Collision
A popular AEW star has seemingly hinted at being the new general manager of the promotion's upcoming show, Collision.
Stokely Hathaway spent several years in WWE under the name Malcolm Bivens before debuting for AEW at Double or Nothing 2022. Most recently, he has been aligned with The Firm as their loud-mouthed manager.
It seems as though he could be transitioning to a position with more authority, as he recently posted a video on Twitter hinting at him becoming the new manager of AEW Collision.
The video takes place in one of the offices at the headquarters of the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL team owned by Shahid and Tony Khan. Hathaway can be seen replacing some of Tony's photos with a few of his own and making himself comfortable in the office space, all while a cover of Frank Sinatra's That's Life plays in the background.
The lyrics, "I'm back on top in June", could be a subtle nod at Hathaway claiming the GM role when Collision launches on June 17th. More so, the video ends with an audio clip of Mariah Carey's famous "Imma do the best with what I got" statement, perhaps hinting at Hathaway's road to redemption following his "deletion" by The Hardy Brothers, Brother Zay, and HOOK.
Whether this video is a glimpse into the future or just a red herring remains to be seen. Regardless, it has definitely amped up the excitement for the new show as fans simply have no idea what to expect.
The Firm set for action at AEW Double or Nothing
The loose association between the members of The Firm has been a point of contention for many fans and critics, with some feeling that the group has done little to assert its dominance across the promotion.
Nonetheless, Ethan Page recently reunited with two members of the group, Austin and Colten Gunn, as they are set to take on The Hardy Party (Isiah Kassidy, Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy) at Double or Nothing 2023.
Matt and Isiah's contracts were previously under the dominion of Ethan Page. The shoe will be on the other foot in their upcoming bout, because if The Firm loses, Page's contract will then belong to Matt Hardy.
